Pitch A = 392 Hz

Stained boxwood

The original instrument

Probably the only surviving oboe by Pierre Naust. As for the majority of French instruments during this period, the pitch of A is around 400 Hz.

Naust workshop was succeeded on his death by her widow Barbe Pelletier Naust who formed a partnership in 1719 with her son in law Antoine Delerablée. The workshop Naust-Delerablée supplied a great deal of recorders, traversos, and oboes during the years 1720s and 1730s.
