The original instrument
This oboe d'amore is preserved in the Museo Correr in Venice. Johann Heinrich Eichentopf was active as a woodwind maker in Leipzig during the years 1720-1730. At the same time, J.S. Bach was composing his big liturgic works and his cantatas in which the hautboy d'amore held a prominent place. 10 oboes d'amore stamped by Eichentopf are still existing.
